About Ala Shanghai Chinese Cuisine
Ala Shanghai Chinese Cuisine is a chinese restaurant in Latham, New York. It is listed at 468 Troy-Schenectady Rd, Latham, NY 12110, which places it among the local businesses of Latham that residents and visitors turn to when they need this kind of service close by.
In cities with a Chinatown, weekend mornings bring dim sum carts or order sheets, and lines form early at the most popular spots in Latham; walk-ins are standard and reservations are uncommon outside large banquet restaurants. Regional labels matter: Cantonese, Sichuan, Hunan, Shanghainese and Taiwanese kitchens cook very differently, so a restaurant's stated region is a better guide to the food than the word "Chinese" alone. Some smaller restaurants in New York are BYOB with no corkage fee; call ahead to confirm. A tip of 15-20% is customary for table service but not expected at counter-order takeout. Spice level, MSG and allergen questions are normal to ask before ordering, and most kitchens are happy to leave an ingredient out or tone down the heat if you mention it when ordering rather than after the food arrives.
The business lists hours on 2 days of the week. The most common schedule is 12β10 PM. As with most places, expect changes around holidays; the phone number below is the fastest way to confirm. The listed phone number is (518) 783-8188. Many businesses also reply to text messages on the same number if it is a cell phone. Its website is alashanghai.net, where you may find menus, price lists or booking options.

This is my first time trying ala Shanghai, the service was amazing and the place was busy. We waited for a bit, but it was well worth. It will definitely be back to try more dishes. The lo mein was my favorite.

I had the Fish Fillet with Snow Peas from the lunch menu. It came with soup and rice. I chose Wonton soup which was unusually good. The Fish Fillet was fabulous. The fish was cooked perfectly to be very tender. Sauce was mild and tasty. The others said their meals were very good. The lunch menu has 22 selections. The restaurant has an extensive dinner menu. I was hungry and forgot to photograph my plate before eating it. The service was professional with staff that appeared to be native Chinese (do not expect a lot of smiles or conversation - I suspect a cultural and language thing). No rush. Our group had a long conversation over lunch that lasted an hour and a half. The restaurant was nicely appointed with a Chinese theme. Clean with well-maintained furnishings.

I'm vegan and can't stop thinking about how amazing the tofu skin and bok choy dish was. Almost a year later and I have yet to find anything like it. The rice shumai were better than the soup dumplings.

The atmosphere is great and so is service! The only actually tasty food was the Pork Soup Dumplings. I had very high expectation as this place was recommended by few people, but other food we got were meh We got sizzling beef, pork lomein, and general Tso's chicken. All these food needed flavors, I took my left overs and will have to add seasonings as most of them were bland.
